Good ride at Gambrill today 02-07-09

With the nice warm weather today, Patapsco without a doubt would be a huge mud pit. So we headed up to Gambrill instead. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised that there was a lot of snow on the ground still. As the day progressed, the snow became quite slushy. Traction was fairly decent on most of the trails but areas of deep slushy snow made climbing an intense workout.

Overall, it was an incredible ride day. Great weather, great workout and great company!

    On to the pics ...

The regular parking was full. Not surprising with the great weather. So we parked at the second lot farther up.

    Jump shots ...

    Flying Cracker

Ed - yes, he did crash on his first attempt. The man has a profound attraction to trees. Nothing broke, no blood spilled and he nailed his second attempt beautifully.

Sanders showing us all how it's done.

After crashing into this hole almost everytime he visits Gambrill, this indentation in the ground is now called ED'S HOLE:

Man, I am soooo jealous of you guys! Looks like you had a great time. Why am I not surprised that Ed found another tree! I wish I could come ride with you all but because of my leg/ankle, I have resigned to drinking beer and watching TV.

    Good job! Ed's Hole

    Ed,
I have made some huge jumps in my day, and had more bad landings than I can remember, but I have never made a crater that big when I've crashed! I'm glad to see you are doing your part to fight global warming. All the ejected dirt from that crater must have cooled the planet by at least one degree. I hear they are having some spectacular sunsets in the Phillipines!
