East coast members...What state are you from & what kind of bike are you riding ??

Im from DE and after a long layoff from mountain biking I picked up a Trek 6700 disk this past August...I added an Easton flat carbon handlebar with Oury grips...some Crank Bros 50/50 flats...a new racing saddle and a Cateye strada wireless computer...I love the Trek and havent had any problems but now I wish I had spent more money and bought a full suspension bike...I'm 6'1 230lbs...oh well..maybe next year I'll pick up a Santa Cruz FS...Any recommendations ??

Anyway...Where are you from and what are you riding ??

PS:Sorry I forgot about the roll call topic...

    From VA on SC BLT

From Roanoke VA area. Just got a Santa Cruz Blur LT and love it (except for the price tag). It suits my style of riding which is all XC. Wanted something lighter than my Giant AC to help me get up the hills. Its not only lighter, but super responsive and blazing fast - scares me sometimes how fast it goes. Most of the guys at the LBS where I bought it ride Hecklers. They didn't have any in stock when I was shopping, so I didn't get a chance to try one out. Lots of cool stuff out there, just find one that fits your body and style of riding. Most will hurt the wallet pretty hard.

I'm from Jersey, live in NY, and ride a fair amount in WV. I ride an Ibex Trophy hardtail. It's a great ride, a great buy, and it helps make the uphills slightly less humiliating when I ride in Appalachia!

I'm from South Jersey, but I ride mostly in PA,DE and MD. I ride a steel hard tail. I like the simplicity of a hard tail. I'd like to have both but I don't have the scratch. maybe someday

I'm hoping to get a Waltworks sometime in 2008. Of course my wife thinks differently.

    Thanks!

Geared for sure, but I'm not sure about he rest. I actually really like that Zion 660 I posted above. I got it as a place holder to save up for the walt, but then my wife and I bought a house so it killed that idea for 2007. Turns out that I actually really like that frame. Fits well and feels really nimble. So the plan is to have the walt built close to the same goe as the zion (which I think is the same as a Jamis Dragon) but with wider chainstays to fit a 2.35 and built around 100mm - 135mm fork, oh and a slightly shorter headtube. --Mark

The surly is in the process of being built up for sale to a buddy of mine. Need to replenish the bike fund for some tubeless bling, among other things. Lodi is a virtual lock. I'd hate to have to miss that one (I have a title to defend!) Regarding the CAMBC forums...who do you think approved your account? Yours truly, my friend. I stood that forum site up for CAMBC.

In VA here as well. Rode most of 2007 Rigid and did a lot of miles but I had to pay the piper at the end of the year. I've now got a sussy on the front of an El Mariachi. I may take it back to rigid and pick up a 29FS frame for the Reba to go onto in the spring just to take some abuse off the body on long rides.

Kevin, Joe, Travis..... I'm back on the trainer and feeling better! I'm finally able to do a solid 45 minutes without the hip flaring up too badly.

Good call, a jet is at the top of the list. Just not sure how I'm going to come up with the extra scratch.

I live in West Virginia and ride either my '05 Giant AC or my '07 Specialized
Hardrock Sport Disk. Live on the western side of the state but spend the majority of
my riding time in the eastern part somewhere between Coopers Rock / Big Bear Lake in
the north, south through Davis / Canaan Valley, to Slatyfork / Kennison Mtn area in
Pocahontas County and everything in between.

I'm in Lynchburg Riding an 07 Yeti 575. I've ridden with a few of the fine MTBR riders in my area, a great bunch of guys. Loving the 575, putting my love for the trails back after a few years on the road. I consider central Va a great place to ride. Tons of great riding within a couple of hours.

Virginia. Niner Rip9. my other bike is a Surly KM SS & rigid.

Per the OPs Q: For a full suspension, the Niner is a great choice (or any 29er).

Yes. I purchased both bikes at Henry's. Good shop, as are a few others in the area, but Henry's is the closest Santa Cruz dealer.

    Good luck!

I really like the bikes...so much so, that if I were in need of a new bike, I'd more than likely buy another, and probably not shop around beforehand.

Never had any problems with them either. Routine maintenance of course, and some components have worn out with time, but I've never had issues with the fames.

When all was said and done, I believe I spent close to $2500 on the Superlight, getting it set up, and I'm into the $4k + range on the Blur.

just got back from FL where I started riding (used to ride BMX when i was younger) on a salsa, came to MD bought the cannondale F7 for its lightweight and price but recently after buying some bike maintenance books and picking up some magazines (mountain bike action, dirt rag) ive noticed theres a lot more brands out there. does anybody have a favorite and why, also anybody into the street/dirt/jump bikes? i think thats my next purchase, that or a 69er. any recommendations? by the way, where to ride in MD?

richmond, VA, currently sitting on a GT I-Drive 4 5.0 disk. I am definitely looking to upgrade tho. man, corsair and Canfield both make some nice bikes, current model year and prior model years (the '07 Balance looks real nice. the new '08 One looks straight up awesome, too. and of course the Corsair Maelstrom has one of the neatest suspension concepts I've seen in a long while)

Germantown, Maryland, mostly ride Black Hills and local single-track here. Have done 3,000 miles on my old (donated to charity last year) '94 Mongoose Switchback and around 1,000 miles on my '95 (purchased early '96) Gary Fisher Mt. Tam (hard tail) w/ Race Face goodies and XT and LX derailleurs. Grip Shift X-Ray 800's (yeah, I know, but I like grip shift) and 2005 Manitou Skareb Elite 100mm fork.

Have ridden the following many times also: Patapsco, Robert E. Lee, Loch Raven, C&O Canal towpath, Cedarville, Shaffer Farm, Whitetail, Seven Springs (PA), and some other places in PA I can't remember the names. Want to do Gambrill and Green Ridge this spring.

Mostly been riding motocross the past couple years and will be racing more this year, mostly in West Virginia. Yamaha YZ250F. Also ride Yamaha street (sport) bikes.

I'm from Chester County, PA. I am 30 minutes from Brandywine Creek, Iron Hill, Fair Hill, and all of the parts of White Clay Creek. You'll see me riding a 2008 Gary Fisher Rig upgraded, or a rigid Haro Mary both SS, one suspended. You may also see my dad on a Gary Fisher Ferrous or a Cannondale 1FG.

    Delaware: Brandywine & TRUTH

Here's a shot of a trail in DE. Brandywine has a little of everything. Single Track, Climbs\Down Hill, Roots and Rocks. The best thing about living here is that we are not far from Wiss, French Creek, Middle Run, Fair Hills, Blue Marsh, SSP in MD and a whole bunch of other systems.

    1st ride of 2008!

That's one of my favorite sections of trail out at Brandywine. I still have a decent scar on my shin from one of those rocks in that photo, but it's a fun piece of trail.

Thanks for sharing the picture! It makes me want to head over there right now!

Test pic of the new Niner S.I.R.9. Currently with gears. Possibly 1x9 soon. Its got a bunch of parts on it and nobody cares what they are.

Almost forgot: I live in Pocahontas County, WV, if you didn't know and/or in case you care. Also can be seen riding a Titus Switchblade. Or a Maverick ML-8. Or a Giant OCR-2 road bike.

I'm in the process of moving from SC to the Dover area of Delaware. Hope it doesnt take too long for the move, as I will be missing riding for a while. Looks like I'll be commuting to the mtn biking areas.

I have an On One 29er rigid SS, and a 2008 Spec Stumpjumper.

I live in Perry Hall, MD right outside the Beltway (695).

I ride a Specialized Hard Rock Comp with discs. I've only had it for about a month and I absolutely love it. Disc brakes are the best!

I ride Loch Raven Seminary Loop and the Gunpowder Blue and Yellow (and white rarely) since I can ride to those trails.

I'm originally from Wisconsin (favorite rides = Rock Lake, John Muir trails, Greenbush) lived in Fort Collins Colorado for a while (fave rides = Maxwell/Shoreline, Devils Backbone, Youngs Gulch) and I now live in Baltimore. I ride in Patapsco at least twice a week, and hit up various other trails in Maryland and Delaware a few times a month.

I ride a 04 ( I think) Specialized hardrock that I have complete surpassed skill-wise and has since had everything broken and replaced/upgraded except the frame and fork. And the fork is on its way out. It climbs like crap, but I weigh 200 lbs and Im built like a linebacker anyway so does it really matter? It attacks fast rolling stuff really well and jumps and descends like a beast. I'm saving up for a Blur LT (Isn't everybody?) and am planning to convert the Specialized over to a DJ bike. I also have an old Giant mutt that I built that I only use for flatter trails that require a lot of big chainring action.

    East Coaster

    Hello
I am currently in Richmond, ride quite a bit in the western part of Virginia and the Eastern edge of West Virginia.
Spend a good amount of my summer weekends chasing my teenage son down the slopes of Snowshoe and racing downhill.
Favorite all-mountain rides are Douthat state park, Sherando Lake and anything west of Harrisonburg.

    Yo Yakuza

Hey man...you guys riding Sherando this Saturday. I was thinking 'bout it...should be dryish...hiked for 5 miles there last Sat. trails looked good, not too leafy. High temp of 36-37...or so they say.
We usually park right past the guard office on the left, ride up the road, hang a left and go up to the Slacks overlook, hit Torry ridge down to the second double blue downhill...which rips!!! all the way down.
There are a few drops on that one and it's pretty steep too.

I'm digging life here in Charlotte NC riding an "08 Gary Fisher HiFi Carbon. Trails in the area are buff and we can ride all year round! This bike climbs like nothing else!

None close by. I want a DJ setup next season, but I ride the Reston/Great Falls trails the most right now. Lots of good riding out there.
