    Douthat rideable late November?

Is Douthat rideable in late November (typcially)? Now that I am living out here (moved to the Norfolk area from SoCal), I am in desperate for a trip with some good trail riding since I can't make my bi-annual pilgramage to Moab any more. Veteran's Day looks like the first chance I'll have time to make the 5 hour trip or so out there.....so, is it worth the drive, and would I be nuts for trying to ride out there during that time of the year?

    It should still be ridable

If the temps are mild, you should still be able to ride Douthat in November. I plan on trying to get out there at least once more before the end of the year.

Let me know if you think you might head out there that weekend and wouldn't mind showing me around....it always makes a first trail experience better if you don't have to spend the whole time wondering where the hell you are

I'll let you know. It definitely won't be this weekend because I am organizing the Paranormal. (one post down) I would like to get out to do some big mountains though.

Unless the trail is buried in snow, go ride. The trails are well marked and with a map from the ranger station you will be set.

Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! douthat info:

I got this from the CAMBC mailing list.

Douthat State Park will be closed for a control Deer Hunt on three different
occasions. November 14th thru November 16th, November 28th thru November
30th and December 19 thru the 21st. The trails and all facilities will be
closed due to the deer hunt in progress. Basically we are not allowing
anyone in the park that is not a registered hunter to increase the safety of
this hunts. Also all hunters must have completed a hunter safety coarse with
no exceptions. I apologize in advance for any problems this may cause. We
selected Monday Tuesday and Wednesday because this is the least about of
visitation this time of year. The park will re-open Thursday following the
    hunt.
Any contribution can be made at the park office though money will go into a
general state park fund. If you are interested in volunteering your time to
perform trail work that is possible as well. This allows the trail budget to
stretch further because some of the labor is being performed by volunteers.
Labor make up about 70% of the budget for trails.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. I am very glad that
you enjoy our trail system it nice to hear that we are making a difference.
    Thanks Charles Conner

Just thought you might like to know.
Dang it, now I'm running a coolness deficit for sure.
