    VRC Kiddo bikes?

Just picked this up for my daughter (and son a few years later). 1994? Barracuda A2MS in the small 12" size. She's a year or two away from fitting it, but I thought it would be a fun project.

It's a step below their Tange Prestige frames, but hopefully I won't lose my shirt for $85 (with post). Way cheaper than the insane money that the old beat up Yo Betty! went for on da'Bay a few months back.

Anybody else still have one of these little 'Cuda frame alive and kicking?

Okay, not mine but the only trike I ever saw that kinda blew my mind was this one by Sacha White. I'm not a big Vanilla fan not because of his workmanship but because of the hype and his pricing. Anyhow, we love pics and here is the $10,000 trike (pics stolen from the google machine). Hell, your kid is worth it...right?

    Now THAT is cool.

here are a few more shots of my little A2MS. It's in fantastic condition for a 1994 era bike..

I just grabbed some 150mm AC cranks from ebay and have an old silver King headset for it. Fork is going to be the next big decision. This originally came with a real short travel POS jobby, so I'm guessing something in the 420-430mm A-C will be best.

I'd love to find a little frame for my kids. Something like that Barracuda would be perfect!

there are two 12" Cudas on eBay right now, but of course they are fully built and not "projects", and where's the fun in that? Ha ha.

One is a really nice Does Equis trim.

Not really MTB's(more clunkers)but I'm piecing a pair together for my two oldest(boy/13 & girl/10). They both fit 13-15" bikes & recently both got Hard Rocks, but for spares boy wil get an 80's 26" GT BMX cruiser & girl will be on an old Schwinn 24" cruiser, modded for 26" wheels. Here's the GT, pre-paint strip:

    My daughter's 1995 'Dale - 12" Killer V with 24" wheels.

The pic is a couple years old so the seat post is higher now

The best part was having her help build it. Her favorite part was dropping the wheel bearings into the grease!

Here are a couple of shots from about 7 years ago. My 5' tall wife and both kids rode this Alpinestars T-26 and a 12" Fisher Advance (of which I can't find photos). We upgraded both bikes considerably over the years.

Stand over at the center of the top tube of the Alpinestars was 24". Seat tube was 12.5" center to top and 9.5" center to center.

Yep. Saw one go for $345 on eBay a while back, so I was thinking of buying my donation back and flipping it on eBay.

Found a picture of the little Fisher Advance my wife and kids used. It may still be at the bike co-op, too.

1" quill BMX stem FTW! Was the Klein painted black & haphazardly stripped or is that intentional? I like it either way.

I love that bike- do you have any idea who made it? I think the wheelbase is longer than most my MTB's.

I was told it was just a custom one off made by a guy in his garage. No true pedegree to it.
Aside from it being Ti and light...it's otherwise pretty crude.

Ya, crazy long wheelbase. It's either gonna be super stable...or be a mess. I've got a few years to get it built and have my daughter test it out.

    Getting closer:

Found that 410mm fork (from a Trek I think) that matches the white pretty well. A friend donated the King headset and the wheels came from my wife's old 1998 Stumpjumper. 50mm eBay stem.

The seatpost adjustment is really limited due to the short seat tube and bottle bosses. I've cut off a little bit, but it's probably still a touch long. The main issue on this bike will be the reach. The standover is sort of close to working, but saddle to bar distance is a stretch compared to her 20" bike that she has maxed out the seatpost on. I was really hoping to bridge from her 20" HotRock to this, but I've sort of been looking around for a cool 24" bike just in case.

I will probably set it up as a 1x7 or 1x8. Thinking gripshift will be the easiest for her, but 7sp gripshift is pretty lousy (I have tons of both 7sp and 8sp gripshift stuff lying around). I think my XT thumbies will be too stiff for her.

If memory serves, Ross Shafer also built a one off Salsa tricycle that was always on display at Interbike. I think he called it the "Poco Moto", and it was painted white with the Jelly Bean swatches and a Race Day saddle. Thought I had an old photo somewhere...

Just built this for my 11 year old daughter.
It will be getting a shorter stem and a cushier seat at some point.
Might have to put some riser bars as well.
Other then that she loves the 3DV.

not quite VRC yet, as it's a '99, but I picked up this VooDoo Nzumbi from the original owner for my son who was just born two weeks ago.

it's a 16, I think, but he should be able to ride it in about 9 years. haha...it's got some cool parts on it. WTB wheelset with Paul hubs, custom VooDoo stem, Race Face Turbine cranks, WTB tires, Koski saddle...it's all 100% original. not sure what to do with it for the next 9 years though. I may move the parts to a frame that is big enough for me, but not sure.
