I wasn't aware that you could strip a frame and do rechroming and still have it NOS. Well, learn something new every day.

Check seller's other items for further VRC amusement. I noticed a couple weeks ago he had these up. Believe it or not, the prices are down from something like $3K for each bike!

That guy or at east that door...

..has a very *high* opinion of his bikes. I seem to always see that door behind some optimistically priced mid range stuff

    Horrible. Embarrassing bad.

All caps (or close to it). Crappy photos. Poor description. Lack of knowledge on bike he's selling. Incredibly ludicrous buy-it-now amount. The Mongoose he's trying to sell is the same story. He won't even get half what he's asking after parting those bikes out.

On the positive side, he must be on some really good drugs.

After seeing what he did to these "NOS" XC-Pro pedals, and what he expects to sell them for, I'm guessing he's been spending too much time trolling the vintage BMX forums and has no idea what VRC MTB stuff sells for. Or what we define "NOS" as, for that matter .

good to see a P-23 get some love like that if indeed that was an honest auction. $2700 would be a new record.

Here's our fellow forum member Sully also in that auction:

    Awesome bike.

The handle for his US auction and his German auction were different. And that final price seems a bit suspect to me as well. But if its legit, very impressive.

Those bikes were basically pretty run-of-the-mill in their day. Not worth much at all these days. An example of what I think is a good deal--A friend dragged me out of the Fairfax Coffee Roasters the other day to show me his latest yard sale find-a Ritchey P-21, serial number 012, in very clean condition that he had just bought for $125.00!

it's not a bad bike. i'm sure it'd be loads of fun to ride on the trails. i have a univega alpina, and it's been a real nice bike so far.

it's just not worth anything like $2000.
