    Late '80s Fisher ID?

Picked this up today, mainly for the near complete M730 group including headset and pedals (front der. is M739, wheels are (obviously) not stock). I'm thinking 1988 based on U-brake/Biopace, frame is Japan made TIGed/lugged, press fit BB, 1" head tube. No model name anywhere. Anyone recognise it?

With Biopace I'm guessing more in the neighborhood of 86-87?
Needed: 26.8mm XTR seatpost, blue GT/Grundig Jersey.

It looks like a Montare. They were Japan made. I think the 1987 colors were like that. Did you check the catalogues on RBUK?

Thanks Nate! Laziness on my part I guess, and perhaps an unconscious false perception that everything at Mombat is super rare or high end - in fact even with my humble means I now own two bikes that appear there. RBUK archives seem to be best for stuff from 1990 onwards - perhaps reflecting when mountain biking really took off in the UK/Europe.

My Montare has some spec. differences from the one at Mombat, notably mine has an XT headset, not 600, beartraps not single-sides and a 'patent-pending' Fisher Bulge handlebar. I really wish the RM20s off mine hadn't gone missing, love those wheels.

Happy to help! There's a full spec sheet on Mombat too.

Should be a nice riding bike if it doesn't become an immediate parts donor.
A slighty older and (well, subjectively) cooler one just went on eBay for under three bills. It was Deerhead parts with a painted to match bullmoose though.

Does it say "Mountain Bikes Montare" on the head tube? Mine did, but was a 1988 model - entirely possible they changed...
