Any regulars live close to Asheville, NC?

    Hey,

Just wondering if any of the regulars here live in or around Asheville, NC. I have a line on a road bike (yeah, yeah) but the guy won't ship. If anyone would be willing to help out I would be eternally grateful.

    Thanks,

    Jacob

That's real nice of you, and on your first post ever!

On the other hand, you do seem to have a trustworthy username. I'm sure it would work out fine.
    Don't call it a gooseneck.

I've been bugging the snot out of an Ashvilleian that has a Slingshot tri-bike for sale. Same thing; no shipping. It's kind of amazing that anyone who would be into the sport enough to buy an esoteric piece like that wouldn't help out another freek Whats a LBS charge to pack a bike these days?

Depends upon the shop of course, but I was quoted $70 labor recently. Worth it for a nice packing job I suppose, but steep if one of the "summer interns" just throws it in a box.

a SLINGSHOT tri-bike!!! Take the tri-crap off it, put on an old rebuilt Manitou 3, and you have a fantastic rough road/dirtroad bike. That was my plan anyways. Switched gears and found a Manitou 700c for MY road slingshot. Can't ride the trails where I live yet without scuba gear. Gotta slum it with a road bike for now.
