1" threadless fork- replacement for RST 381L

I have an old Cannondale hardtail with a RST 381L fork- 1" threadless. the fork suspension is dead and it's really flexy. I happened to find a elastomer kit for it but I don't know if it's worth the effort or $55. I found one very entry-level Suntour fork and a few rigid forks on the market that will fit this bike. Is there anything else available that is worthwhile?

I know the real answer at this point is "buy a new bike" because it's a 25 year-old bike with 7-speed shifting, but it's my wife's bike and she is hellbent on not spending one dime on herself.

I would just get a rigid fork if she wants to keep riding that particular bike. The last time I went looking for anything 1" it took too much effort IMO.

Also, she doesn't have to spend dime.... you do.
I don't know why,... it's just MUSS easier to pedal than the other ones.

It's our money. But if anyone is keeping score, it's mostly HER money. If it was mine to spend, I'd get her a proper $1k bike and be done with the nickle-and-diming.

Worthwhile.... I can't say, but it seems some RST forks can be configured with 1" steerers:

I'm not giving his site a good review, no links, no contact info. All I can do is add a generic "X Country fork" to a shopping cart. All that I know about the thing is that it costs 110$.

He prefers to talk to potential customers by telephone so as to get everything right.

I'd grab one of the Kona or Carver rigid forks from bikeman

I also have a tange rigid fork with a 1" threaded steerer if your interested in something cheaper than new
