Help the Fo price a bike

Like the idiot I am, i effed up with taxes this year BIG time and am already selling my UZZI VPX (only 3 rides) on mtbr as of yesterday....decided this morning that I probably need to also sell the El Rey as the Intense and El Rey are the only bikes i own that will fetch a decent amount to help make a dent...will update my empty classified ad shortly (bought one so i dont get into trouble asking quesitons about selling)

Since I have not thought about it long, need help with pricing
    • Frame = El Rey, large, cosmic orange
    • Rear shock = Fox Float R Pro Pedal air shock w/ High Volume canister with PUSH factory tuning
    • Fork = '08 Fox F29
    • Brakes = Hope M4s with Goodridge braided housing (180/180)
    • Stem = Thompson X4
    • Seatpost = Thomson setback post
    • Saddle = Selle Italia SLR XC
    • Headset = King
    • Bars = Synros Bulk
    • Grips = ODI lock on grips
    • Cranks = XTR M970 w/ FSA Bash
    • Drivetrain = SRAM X.9 drivetrain w/trigger shifters, SRAM 11-34 PG-990 cassette, w/ Clark stainless shifter cables
    • Wheelset = Industry Nines (half black/silver spokes with silver front, black rear hubs) with 9mm axle on front hub using DT Swiss Ratchet Skewer
    • Tires = Panaracer Rampage / Exiwolf (replaced picture Rampage recently as I hate Rampage as rear tire)

Bummer, with the economy the way it is I would hate to try and guess a selling price on such a fine machine. I've had my Niner Sir9 listed around for a while, added up the cost took off 50 percent and it's still up for sale at this time. I've listed on MTBR, RM and a few other places with just a few inquires about parting it out.

Dude, that sucks! Are you sure you want to do that? I thought this was your favorite bike. Maybe you could steal some of the wife's jewelry to sell instead.

Frame: $1300 or so with a stock shock, but you can add $100 perhaps if including the pushed shock. I think $1400 would be a tough sell tho.

    Fork: $500, max

    Rampages $20 ea

    Good luck.

Sweet lookin' ride, Fo. It should fetch $3000 but don't be surprised if you don't get more than two if you want a fast sale.

Heck, I'd be willing to offer you $1500 just to keep the IRS off your back..... but I haven't got the bad news from my accountant yet so am in a "holding" pattern for now.

I hate this time of year.

Seriously, in this economy take whatever you can get. That's a great offer for frame, fork and tires. I had a Salty listed for $1K forever before I decided to trade it in. Folks are just not buying but instead are making do with what they have.

Sorry, to here about your IRS problems. I had a run in with those ba$tards a few years ago......they are heartless pigs. Now if it were the other way round (Al la State of California giving IOU's) they have a different set of rules. I smell a class action lawsuite in the making.

I feel your pain man. I owed the government about 20k last year with penalties and interest. Despite all those adds about the irs taking pennies on the dollars, it just aint true. With the economy the way it is, you could do what I did and borrow/cash out any 401k monies you have, (if you haven't thought of that already). The stock market is so in the tanker, most peoples retirement funds are disappearing faster than they even realize. If I wasn't trying to buy a house I would be seriously interested in fattening up my stable with that steed.

Man talk about depressing, dumping such a sweet ride to pay the IRS! That blows. My wife is at the accountants right now, so I'm in total finger crossing mode myself. I'd say 3K is a steal for that bike, but yeah the economy is in the tank and people are freaked out. I'm just glad it isn't a small frame, or Id be in trouble. Good luck with it and getting sorted with the gov.

Did you check with cactuscorn?, it does have standard housing stops instead of full length housing so that should be enough for him to buy it.

Last year the car blew up?

    Or was it wife's schooling?

Is it simply an excuse to get a new fleet?

We will see......stay tuned to the Fo chronicles.

Hey times are tough for all. I get to see the accountant on Thursday and she told me to bring a cheque for the goverment, so definately not a good sign.

Heck, I've curbed my spending, no new bikes for me for 09 unless Fo starts buying Medium (17") frames instead.

Eh, think of it this way, he borrowed the bike from the gov for the year. Now it's just payback time is all. A month or two out we'll be reading about his next exercise in color-matching angst and machination.

Now, if I could only get ONE of the billion the Govt. is giving to AIG, I'd buy all of us new bikes.

Fo, Fo, Fo... I love that bike so. As you know, you did give me the honor of riding it that one time. It is truly a sweet ride.

Worth every penny of $1,500 to me, though I could not steal a bike off Fo.

I should not take advantage of Fo's misfortune...I haven't done my own taxes yet.

true indeed Dr. A...funny how 3 of my Ventanas have gone to either a friend or now a friend of a friend. JG just emailed saying how blown away he was with the descending prowess of the Terremoto from your ride I couldnt make...i am very sorry for having sold it to him; that SOB is fast enough on the climbs and now we have to follow him on the DHs too?
