Suggestions for a week-long trip of moderate XC riding?
Hey all, I'm looking into a week long trip next year some time with my wife and hopefully some buddies.

My wife's strong and experienced but not keen on endos. Barb runs ultra races and doesn't want to miss part of a season due to biking injury. I'm also not into extreme terrain.

We're looking for a place to stay with intermediate-advanced xc trails, not All-mountain extreme stuff where you need armor.

We had a fun week at Moab a couple of years back, with me on my custom bike.

We did a bit of riding in Sedona, where Barb did fine but I had a bugger of a time on a rental bike.

We're in Southern Ontario, but don't mind travelling. I need to fly my own bike, but Barb's OK with a decent rental.

So far Whitefish Mountain in Montana sounds good. Appreciate any further suggestions, and timing for good weather.

Bend Oregon, Helena Montana, Sun Valley Idaho, Kootenays BC (Revelstoke, Golden, Fernie, Rossland) all have lots of moderate trails for up to a week of riding.

The Park City Utah area has over 400 miles of single track. Most is int-adv and pretty buff. Certainly more buff than Moab!

Thanks, appreciate the suggestion and will look into it. Any particular place you'd suggest staying?

I don't know about Bend, but Park City has a bunch of places.

If you're bringing your bike, you might need a place to put it, but there are plenty of bike rental opportunities. Also, depending on dates, there is lift service at Deer Valley and The Canyons.
Here's a list of some riding in the area:

You could combine Fernie BC and Whitefish, MO. Fly into Calgary

Cool! How far is Whitefish from Calgary by car?

Bend would be a pretty good choice. Lots of flowy XC trails, many right on the edge of town. Good food and beer in town and lots of entertainment options in the summer. Higher trails start to open up mid June. Lots of high end bike rentals.

450 km or about 5 hours of driving with the border crossing. 2 hours from Fernie to Whitefish.

Thanks, May be a bit much for a 1 week trip but both places sound worth visiting.

Thanks man, it's definitely on the list for Trip 2.
Right now it's between Whitefish Mtn and Nipika Lodge in the Rockies for trip 1.

Sacred Rides sounds like a good outfit too if you're looking for all-in organization. That's on the list as well.
