White Rim Trail - Overnight Parking
I'm headed to the White Rim Trail in a couple weeks. I have a permit for a camp at Potato Bottom and will be riding clockwise. I'd like to park near the top of the Shafer switchbacks.

Does anyone have recommendations for overnight parking in that area?

A good place to park is the top of the Mineral Bottom Road where it intersects Hwy 313:

Parking is free. It is a common spot for parking for other White Rimmers so there are always cars there.

We either leave a vehicle in the park or the top of mineral bottom. Usually it depends on how late we get there.

Is this your first time going? I've done it about 10 times over about 15 years. I'm looking forward to going later this year.

Yea, First time riding it. Driven it twice. Motorcycle once. Time for a bike ride.

I'll get an early start from that parking spot at the top of Mineral Bottom Road and shouldn't have much trouble making it to Potato Bottom. I'm guessing. :) Famous last words.

I'm in pretty good shape and usually can knock out 50-75 miles without much fuss.

Right on. We go to relax. Friends, family, food and bikes. Three days of riding (two full days of riding and two half days), and three nights of camping. Our trip always has a theme: pirate, superhero, cowboy, Hawaiian, 80's, stuff like that. We dress according to the theme and have a fun time with it. Other people on the trail probably think we are crazy. Good times.
