Either bike would work, just depends on how much you like to pedal. There is a freeride park in the works north of 12th street off of the bonneville shoreline trail. Haven't been up there this year yet to see the progress. Maybe someone else can chime in on that. There are also dirt jumps off of 9th street. There are plenty of fun and great trails you can ride or shuttle up by snowbasin that offer great downhill runs. Snowbasin offers a shuttle from the lower trails when you buy a lift ticket too.

Just be aware that Xterra is this weekend in Ogden and they are using a lot of Snowbasin trails. With Lance in town to race I imagine it will be somewhat of a circus.
I'm looking forward to regretting this.......

Check out Utahmountain biking . com. It has many of the trails. Just keep in mind the Snowbasin / Wheeler canyon / Crrek trails will be areas that you will want to avoid with Xterra.
