    Wasatch Crest

Anyone have any idea of just how much snow is still up there? I remember I tried to ride it last year at this time and it wasn't even close to being ready, and there is even more snow this year. Guess I am just getting anxious!!

I hiked Butler Gap on Monday. That's well below the ski areas and I hit snow in a jiffy. It's gonna be a while.

I'll bet 3-4 weeks of some solid hot days should do the trick. I was up in BCC on Sat. and things were looking pretty dry on the north side of the road. The bottom of Mill D was looking dry, but I hear that Guardsman is still covered in 2-3 feet of snow. Yay

I am curious what Desolation looks like now. I hiked up to Dog Lake this past weekend and it looked like this:

Talked to a hiker at the top of the climb from Park City on Saturday. He had hiked from Mill D. He said it wasn't gonna be ridable for a while.

That is very optimistic, although I doubt very much that it will be rideable!

I think you'll be fine as long as you bring your skis, and some snowshoes. Try back in mid july.

You won't be alone ... I just rode up there on the pavement this morning and spun up to the trailhead to see what was going on. I passed some jibbers who were finishing their session in the woods - who knew what activities were appropriate at that altitude right now, and then the idiot mt bikers parked at the turn out who somehow were thinking that all the snow they could see from their cars would magically not affect the trail?!?!? Freaks. Sure puke hill looked clear, and I'm sure 70% of the trail is clear - but the other sections are going to be packed with snow and mud. Ride PC - so many trails in good shape. Leave it be for 2 more weeks.

He's right, it needs at least anothe week. I rode up to dog lake from big water and that was all good. Rode up to the park city overlook as well. Lots of mud and snow drifts..I wouldnt attempt the crest for at least another week. Trail pics and a vid on my blog

Nice, no, *great* looking bike. I'm not sure why, but from the photos in your blog, it looks like your bike went for a ride without you.

Rode Park City to Crest to Mid Mountain yesterday. Crest is perfect. One drift between Desolation and ridge connector, everything else is completely clear.

And from the PCMR side, only a little snow on Shadow Lake Loop. Not a deal breaker.
