    Vernal - Flaming Gorge riding?

Floating the Green in a few weeks, but getting to Flaming Gorge area a few days prior to putting on the river. We'll be coming from NW Colorado through Vernal.

Can you recommend riding in the area? Didn't see anything that twisted my pickle in the immediate area of Flaming Gorge.
I would advise not taking my advice.

McCoy Flats is the usual go-to area with lots of options. Plus, the Red Fleet area trails are fun too....with a bit better scenery.

There are also the LaPointe trails, Red Mountain and the Flume trail near Vernal.

In the Flaming Gorge area my favorite is the Red canyon Rim trail ridden as an out ad back from the Greendale overlook. Itís chunky fun with some amazing views of the lake.

Dowd Mountain trail is an easy loop with another great overlook and a fun fast down hill at the end.

There is a short two mile trail from Ute tower to Browne lake - more technical, short but fun.

Another option is trail 017 which runs 15 miles from Browne lake to Spirit lake. This has a bit of everything from rocky tech to smooth and flowy. Itís not used very much and can be a little hard to follow in places but is a fun place to spend a day and get out of the heat.

There is also a new trail that follows the river rim below Little Hole. PM me if you want more info...
