    Summer monsoons?

There is a pretty big chance that I'll be going to Utah at the end of August/beginning of Sept, and I was wondering what the weather is going to be like during that time. I expect it to be hot, but I was wondering if it's one of those areas that gets a solid rain shower every afternoon....I know that this time of year does get more rain, but I was just wondering if there is a discernable pattern of some sort.

Any info?? I love to camp, but hate the rain.

We don't get a lot of rain in SLC during that time.
I have been to Moab in August and it's been known to rain some then, but it doesn't last that long and dries out pretty quickly.
Maybe these two charts I found will help
    SLC Climate Info

    Moab Climate Info

    Both found HERE!

    Good Luck!

    Where will you be riding?

If you're going to be riding in the mountains, that is actually my favorite time of year. No bugs, still warm out but not "July hot." Evenings are cooler. I don't recall too many rain showers where I'm from (northern Utah). It's overall pretty dry (and crunchy).

It looks like the Moab climate link below shows August to have alot of precip for that season (well over an inch!). That's not bad. Probably will even evaporate off the hot rocks or not even hit the ground (virga).

All in all, I don't think you'll be drenched in rain showers. Don't quote me!

Thanks for that info and the links, mtbbrian. I've always dug your photography, and like I said, the links are nice. Evidentaly (sp?) I either don't know how to, or am too lazy to, use the internet properly.....lol.

You bet and thank for your kind words.
All you need are few key words and a good search engine.
    Have a good one!

I got rained on a few evenings in Park City... it gets cold and dark, sometimes hails, usually clears out before you are done riding. But it's not an everyday thing, mabye twice a week in the mountains that time of year?
