St. George over Thanksgiving. Anyone up for a ride?

    Hey Guys,

I will be headed down to St. George for the week of Thanksgiving and would love to get out and hit as many trails as I can. Most of my buddies have since moved away, so if there is any interest in getting some group rides together, I am game.

If I have time, I would like to hit Goose and Grafton, but plan to hit Zen, Barrels, Fluffy Bunny, The new Santa Clara Trails, maybe Quail Rim, Churchrocks, Paradise rim etc.

Hope to see you in STG

I'd like to get down that way (from SLC). What day are you heading down?

With a foot of new snow on all my trails (two feet up higher) and a new bike in the garage you know I would love to get down to St. George sometime that week. With all the kids coming for Thanksgiving I think that'll be tough but if something changes and they all leave by Friday I may try and do a quick Saturday trip. I'll let you know.

What is fluffy bunny? I'm local and have no clue. Too secret to share publicly?

Let's meet up and I'll show you. Little something we did back in the day that is still untouched

Weird timing. I'm in Phx. Wife and I have that week off and we're pondering places to go for a few days. St. George came up on the list.

Any locals have insight on short-term rentals? Me, my wife, a couple bikes, one car and two well-trained adult dogs. Checked VRBO and most of the stuff either isn't pet-friendly or is an apartment/condo. We prefer something with a fenced yard if possible. Probably come up for 3/4 days or so.

Yep, St. George/Hurricane is a good call if the weather holds.

Might try B&Bs in Hurricane, Rockville, or LaVerkin? They have some good off-season pricings sometimes (not sure if we're into the off-season for Southern Utah yet). I've heard they'll sometimes rent you the whole house for a nominal fee (no breakfast etc).

Love Zen and Barrels. That's a great double loop. Are all the gaps and features still intact on Barrels? I haven't ridden it in over a year but I may be coming down tomorrow.

I have to work on Wednesday, but we should meet up to ride Barrel, Zen and whatever else on Thursday. Most of the freeride features on Barrel are still in good shape, a few are eroded and pretty unsafe. I ride Barrel as a loop a few times a week, best trail in the area for my tastes.

Word. The ramp to the step up gap entrance to the rock drop/gap sequence we used to call the South Shore had eroded or been knocked down considerably.

I came up short and crushed my carbon wheel. D'Oh. Good news is Atomik is going to warranty it.

    Good riding with you Dusty.
