SL county meeting tonight to help save Bonanza Flats by Guardsman pass

Forwarding this for SL county riders interested in saving Bonanza Flats, the gorgeous area behind Guardsman, over to Empire Pass. Please attend if you can. Various land groups are trying to raise $35M by 6/15, and it'd help immensely if SL County would kick in $s.

    When: today, Tuesday March 14th, 2017 @ 4pm
Where: 2001 S. State Street, Salt Lake City; North Building, 1st Floor

Here's the mtb ask: Ask the council to commit funds to protecting Bonanza Flats.

6/12 update for Bonanza Flats, time-critical next steps

Quick update: Park City obtained an extension for purchasing Bonanza Flats (Guardman-Empire pass area). They're still about $4M short. Salt Lake County is a possible contributor, they voted it down in March but it's been re-added as a possible budget item. To make a difference they'd need to approve it at tomorrow's 6/13 meeting; see SL Tribune article at Salt Lake County to reconsider kicking in to preserve Bonanza Flats | The Salt Lake Tribune.

Here are three quick action steps:

    1. Contact Salt Lake County Council members - they need to hear from you and your friends as soon as possible, to address the budget request before 6/15:
    Richard Snelgrove (R - At Large): 385-468-7452
    Max Burdick (R - District 6): 385-468-7459
    Steve DeBry (R - District 5): 385-468-7458
    Aimee Winder Newton (R - District 3) 385-468-7456
    Michael Jensen (R - District 2) 385-468-7455

    2. Sign and spread the petition to the Salt Lake County Council: Urgent: Save Bonanza Flats

    3. Donate at https://www.savebonanzaflats.org. All donations are tax deductible and will go directly to the protection of Bonanza Flats. If we are unsuccessful you will receive your donation back.
