Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Shoreline Trail Work Day for Bros and Chicas

    Trail Work Day

    Saturday May 1st 8am -1pm
Morris Meadows Trailhead, Salt Lake City

(Morris Meados Trailhead is the I STREET parking lot)

Join the Utah Sierra Club for trail work on the BST this Saturday. We will be meeting at the Morris Meadows Trailhead and working on east side of City Creek to enlarge and improve erosion structures that were put in last summer (turning the speed bumps into smooth rollers). We had 23 people at our last trail work day, lets see if we can get even more out this Saturday. Feel free to come even if you can't stay the full five hours.

All tools will be provided by the Bonneville Shoreline Trail Committee. Please bring gloves, wear long pants, closed toes shoes and prepare for sun and rain.

Directions: From South Temple Street go north on I Street (600 East) to 11th Avenue. Continue north on I Street for approx. 0.9 miles as the street becomes Northhills Drive going first northwest and then curving sharply to the northeast. Turn left (north) into the trailhead parking lot just east of the LDS church; the Morris Meadows water storage tank is visible directly to the north.

Bro-stponed on account of the rain.

Trail Work Postponed to next Saturday -May 8th, 8am-1pm.

Due to the constant rain this week and the forecast for chilly temperatures and additional rain tomorrow we have decided to postpone the Bonneville Shoreline Trail trail work session. We will be working next Saturday May 8th, 8am to 1pm. We will work on the same section of trail, however we will be meeting at the City Creek Trailhead.

Directions: From South Temple St take B St north up the hill. At the intersection of B St and 11th Ave. Bonneville Blvd descends into City Creek Canyon. Stay to the right of the one way street, bikers and joggers occupy the left side. At the bottom of the canyon park in the small pullout on the right side of the road. The trailhead for the main BST trail heading east to the Morris Meadows trailhead (1.1 miles) is on the right (southeast) side of the canyon where Bonneville Boulevard intersects the City Creek Canyon Road at the U-turn.

Is this really a collaboration with the Sierra Club?

The Shoreline Trails Committee hooks up with various groups to get the manpower necessary to have a work day. Earlier this year they worked with Utah Mountain Biking, last time it was WAFTA, apparently this time it's the Sierra Club.

Helping the BSTC with trail work is not an endorsement of Sierra Club policies. In fact, BSTC is extremely bike friendly and wants help making those chunky waterbars below I Street into fun rollers.
