    Riding around Kodachrome S.P.

I am headed to Kodachrome State Park in about a week for some camping with the family. I would like to squeeze in some rides during the visit. Any suggestions on options that are close by would be great. I l enjoy most any type of ride, including long climbs, but I am not a fan of super technical trails with drops, jumps, etc. If I could ride from the campground, that is ideal, but I am willing to drive a little if needed. Also, are the roads in Escalante worth riding? Probably all dirt, but I will have the mountain bike. Thanks for the help.

Thunder Mountain is about 20 miles away, and is a good ride. There are a couple of trails in Kodachrome State park open to mountain bikes...no idea on quality. Powell point is close to there also... I don't know much about it other than supposedly a good view at the top.

If you don't find Thunder Mountain too far away, there are other trails on the north side of the highway near there, Casto, Cassidy etc that are fun too.

    Very scenic area down there.
I'm looking forward to regretting this.......

thanks for the information. Those all sound like good places to start. I think I can get some rides in while the family relaxes.

If you ride the trails in the state park itself, post back what you think.

If you wanted to do a long (or shorter with a short drive) dirt road ride, you could continue south past Kodachrome on the Cottonwood Canyon Rd. Some parts are a bit dull but other's are gorgeous.
