    Riding in/around Kanab??

Did a search. Nothing. Searched google. Not much. Planning on moving here. Really don;t wanna drive to Hurricane for every ride.

    Thx....

Used to live there. Gooseberry is the closest major MTB area (45 minutes). The bonus is you get to drive through the polygamist town! You should try the Merry Wives Cafe and post back. I never had the guts to try it.

Anyway, living in Kanab you need to get used to driving to Hurricane/St. George or Page on a regular basis anyway. Not a lot in Kanab by way of stores outside a couple small groceries.

    Other MTB options:

There are trails on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (45-90 minute drive)
Bryce Canyon area has some great ones like Thunder Mountain (60 minute drive)
As does Brian Head/Cedar City (90 minute drive)
There are some trails just outside of Kanab but it varies on how bike friendly they are. Many are too sandy or too steep/tech such as the Squaw Trail which you can access from town but you have to hike a bike a lot.
There are a tom of ATV and 4x roads around which are fun to explore but you run the risk of it being too sandy unless you have a fat bike.
In the Grand Staircase Monument and around Page there are some good adventuring and slick rock spots but they are not developed like Gooseberry.

But in general, you are moving to an incredibly rural area so get used to driving a lot but 90% or something of Kane County is public land so there's plenty to do outside

According to a mountain bike friend whose in-laws lived there, there's pretty much zilch. ATV trails, etc. Good luck. Pretty area, would be nice to have some good singletrack.

edit: Much better info from jmmorath.
I'm looking forward to regretting this.......

I drive through Kanab all the time and think about how many awesome mountain bike trails could be built there. To my knowledge there are zero mtb specific trails there. As others have mentioned Gooseberry and Little Creek would be the closest options.
