    Pine Valley

Are there any good trails in Pine Valley open to mountain biking? Will be there for a few days and I'm not gonna ride st george while it's this hot!

If your talking about Pine Valley north of St. George, I've never seen, heard or read about any proper trails down there. Cool little town though, reminds my of Ophir for some reason.

I've often wondered the same thing. The Pine Mountains in general look like an incredibly promising range for mtb opportunities. We camped up Pine Valley many years ago (like 40) but I don't remember doing any hiking even.... which we usually did when camping with the family. But there's gotta be trails up there. Is it Wilderness Area?

I don't know about trails in that area, but there is a Wilderness area. That ,of course would be closed to bikes. If you drive east from Cedar City there are great trails around Navajo lake At about 9000". I don't know if they are affected by the fire that is burning at Brian Head. Check out the Virgin River Rim Trail. Alpine singletrack YUM.

Nothing in Pine Valley. The Brian Head fire has not affected the Navajo Lake trail or the Virgin River Rim Trail. Both are great options.

That's a shame. That's a big mountain to be totally devoid of any mountain bike trails. Is most of it Designated Wilderness? Or just jeep roads and ATV trails? or is the terrain just too steep, inhospitable for mtbs? We certainly have ranges out here in Eastern Nevada that fit that description.

Not questioning your knowledge, just wondering why.

It just hasn't been done I'd guess. I think there's a lot of opportunity, it just takes manpower. I believe there are ideas on the table.

Cool. Maybe I'll go Scout around out there some time when I'm down.

The light green is USFS, the dark is Wilderness.
