    One day in moab

Hello I'm Italian I'm going on a trip to South West America and also boar in Utah. Is it very hot moab in August? What can I do in one day? What do you recommend?
    Thanks

The average daytime temperature in August in Moab is about 36C, 95F. It is very hot, dry and can be windy.

You can rent a bike and ride, but you should only ride in the mornings, and be done by 11 AM.

honkinunit is right, you'll be "done" (probably well done!) by 11am.

Get up early, ride 4+ hrs, and get off the bike and in some shade by 10am.

The Whole Enchilada would be the typical choice if you can only ride one day. If you can squeeze in the time and energy I'd try to do TWE first thing in the morning and Captain Ahab at last light.

    ansia,
Please be aware of the extreme heat that is more the norm than the exception this time of year and into August.
One person has died in the past 30 days and Grand County Search and Rescue has been busy daily assisting people who underestimate the amount of water they need for a given excursion and the power of the heat out in the desert as well as overestimating their ability to withstand the extreme temperatures..

The only way to describe riding in Moab on a hot summer afternoon is that with the combination of intense sun, wind, rock, and the sheer temperature, you are riding in a convection oven.

    ansia,
Not saying don't go to Moab, It's an amazing place to visit, and truly spectacular to experience in it's state of extreme summer which is what makes it what it is!
Just set expectations for what you will be able to do. As others said. For riding, start EARLY and plan for your length of ride. There are those who do Whole Enchilada this time of year, but I wouldn't recommend it for a first time visitor. Someone who knows the trail and the effort and time it takes them to complete the ride can plan accordingly and execute it.
Amazing riding that can be done in a good morning ride like Amasa Back/Ahab, Klondike Bluffs, Gemini Bridges/Horsethief area (part of the Mag 7 ride), Navajo Rocks, just to name a few.
Maybe your afternoon time is better spent in and out of the air conditioned vehicle seeing the wonders of Arches Ntl park, or rent a side by side and go explore slickrock that way, or do a float trip on the river, or tons of other options where your time will still be WELL spent!!
    Enjoy your visit!!
