North Ogden/Willard/Brigham City People: BETA needed

We are planning on a big ride on SAturday (weather dependent....) and need a little information. We will be heading north on the Willard BST to its northern terminus. At that point, we were thinking we would have to bail down to the highway and continue north to the bottom of Perry Canyon. However, it appears that there is a canal/doubletrack road that we may be able to use to bypass the highway section and connect directly into the White Rock Trail. I"ve attached a little labeled map to ensure we are speaking the same language.

Anybody know if this is public access?

This is not a great answer ... no real first hand beta. But I thought it was interesting to see what Strava global heatmap showed. Not much traffic ... especially on the right hand branch of that road. ( I think this image is the same area.... )

Curious what you find. Good luck!

Good call on the heat map. It does look like the canal road does get a reasonable amount of use. Perhaps just from runners.

The fire break road that takes off of the canal road looks like nobody has been on it. It looks to be fairly steep. A couple of people have warned me about goatheads on the canal road. We may end up just bailing down to the highway to connect in to Perry Canyon a few miles to the north.

    Not sure yet.

I've ridden it before to make a loop of the BST/Grizzly/North Skyline. Didn't have any issues or remember seeing any signage.

It was a perfect connection. I'm glad we tried it instead of bailing down to the road.
