    Mueller Park

Brian, thanks for suggesting Mueller Park. I had no idea where it was or that it even existed for that matter. Using my TOPO, GPS, and trip mapping software, I was able to figure out where it is. I went out there yesterday and walked the first 1.25 miles of the trail just to get an idea of what it was like. Up, up, up, up, up . . . . You know how much I hate climbing.

Today, I went back with my bike. Brian, I could kill you about now! You didn't tell me it was a 7 mile uphill ride, but the 7 miles back down more than made up for it. It took me 1 hr 48 min to reach Rudy Flat; I only took two breaks for about 1 min each on the climb up. Of course I used the heck out of my granny ring and wasn't moving much faster than a snail in the winter. I couldn't even keep up with a guy who was hiking the trail. It took me 39 minutes to get back to the parking area at the ranger station.

This trail has NIGHT RIDE written all over it. What does everyone think about night rides here?

    Happy Trails,

    Chris

Good job! Ride On! You know what they say....

    You never asked Chris!!
You did it in a good time.
You know what they say, "hills weed out the weak"

Not that I am that strong of a climber.
I usually take my time, but can do it in a comparable time.
I usually do it in the middle ring.

Weekdays are best to go, but if you go early enough on a weekend you'll be fine.
The best rides there are when you don't see anyone on the upper half of the downhill.
    You can just fly!
But the bottom half, you always have to look far ahead for others.
I'd LOVE to do it as night ride, but I don't have any lights at all.

Sounds like you haven't visited www.utahmountainbiking.com

Mueller is an excellent night ride trail. Dog Lake over in Millcreek is another as well as the whole Wastach Crest.

I grew up five minutes from Mueller and it is still one of my favorites. Ride up late evening, catch the sunset from the top, give the hikers an extra 10 min. and bomb. At night the trail isof course empty and the track is so smooth there is no concern for anything nasty to sneek up on you. However, I did almost hit a couple of teenagers making it on a blanket in the middle of the trail.

So what are the trail conditions like?

What kind of shape is Mueller Park in now? Is the trail dry all the way up to Rudy's Flat yet?

Yes it is more or less dry all the way up.
Although you'll some run off in places that you don't usally or it will be a lot higher than usual.
