Moab Night Rides - how safe is it ?

    Hi All,

Soon I'll be flying out from the UK for a 2 week MTB holiday - starting in Denver and finishing in Phoenix.

I've only got two nights in Moab on the 27th & 28th April as i couldnt find anyway decent to stay for longer then 2 days, so I was thinking about doing some night rides as well as day rides to pack in as much riding as possible

Thing is I'd just like to know the following

    1) Are the Trail head parking spots safe at night ? - how likely is it that the car will get broken into ?, or that you'll get mugged

    2) Are there any big critters out there that might decided i'd be a good midnight snack ? i.e. Mountain Lions ?

    3) Is any one else out there interested in Hooking up for a night ride or two ?

    Thanks in advance

0% chance of getting mugged. They can't even spell that in Moab.
I think the car will be preety safe, I have never heard of a car being broken into at a trail head but it probably has happend.
Nothing is going to eat you. It may be the Wild Wild West but it's much more probable you will get lost and or fall of the edge of something and die than be eaten.
Slick Rock is fun at night, the painted dots glow in the dark and you never get going fast enough for real danger.

There's really no big critters to worry about, but lots of little ones: spiders, scorpions, snakes. Keep your footwear in your vehicle or tent. Zip your fly. Sleep with your mouth closed.

    night rides

besides slick rock, any other favorite night rides. My concerns would be falling off a cliff ledge or getting lost as can't get right stated.
