    Moab locals. Tire setup?

I'm sure this topic has been brought up several times.

I'm headed to Moab and the surrounding areas and I'm curious what the locals are using as far as tire set ups.

    Moab locals. Tire setup?

I should've prefaced by saying I have several different tires laying around the garage.

I am up in Whistler and now it's rainy season. Currently I have Magic Mary upfront and Hans Dampf in back. In the middle part of the season I ran a Rock Razor on the back. When I go to California and generally run a minion DHF upfront and either a minion DHR 2 or highroller 2 in the back. This is mainly because the Schwabies wear out so fast and rough terrain.

I would go with something a lot less knobby and a bit harder durometer with tough sidewalls.

DHF front/HR2 back is a solid choice. As mentioned, 60d is a good thing, especially on the back. Generally, I never put fresh tires on before a trip to Moab, worn tires tend to roll after on the rocks, but some good side knobs are still nice to have in the sandy dirt between the rocks.

Something other than a Schwalbe tire. They wear so fast. Moab will eat it for lunch. I was there a couple weeks ago. Did 2 days of riding. My nearly new Nobby Nic is now a semi slick.

Minion DHF front, Minion DHR rear.

Ate The Whole Enchilada for lunch, gobs of traction and plenty strong for square-edged hits.

Headed back to Moab this weekend/next week and won't think twice about modifying this setup.

Cheap. Touch. Bigger and shorter knobs . Tires wear fast there. Honestly though, I'm on the front range now and they don't last much longer here :/
