    Moab in late Feb: ?

I'm hoping to do a weeks' riding in AZ and UT the last week of Feb. Would most trails be OK by then in Moab or should I think about pushing back the trip into March sometime?

Would the greater St. George area be a better than Moab in late Feb?

    thanks guys.

    Oh ya!

Howdy, Moab in late Feb. or early March is great. The only downfall is that Porcupine Rim is likely snowbound. That said, some of the sandier trails will be really good at that time of year. Temps can vary a lot so be prepared. If you get snow, do a morning hike in Arches - unbelievable!

Phoenix and Sedona will be great that time of year but I'm doubtfull of any riding in Flagstaff - best check with a local shop. Gooseberry Mesa is worth checking out no matter where you are coming from. I've heard tale of some other trails in its class in/around St. George.

    Have a blast!

    thanks for the help.
I'll be flying into vegas, riding at Bootleg Canyon and Sedona, then deciding whether go to Moab, St. George or Tucson/Phoenix. I rode Flag last spring for the first time - great place, but it sounds like i have a bunch of other options.

Late Feb. is great in St. George, I go there several times a year. Gooseberry is fantastic, don't miss it. Also good in St. George - Rockville Bench (aka Slickrock Swamp), Green Valley, JEM, Goulds-JEM-Hurricane Rim loop, Church Rocks for a quickie. You'd have to get lucky to have comfortable weather in Moab that time of year, and it's a real pain getting to Moab from Sedona, long drive. Moab is best in April, St. George in March.
