    A hypothetical SLC epic question

I've been considering a new route - just wondered if anyone has tried it. Starting at the zoo - head N on shoreline trail, up Dry Creek and then towards City Creek, but at the double track that is about a mile before the city creek overlook, head up to the ridge (I call this the bonus hill). Then, E to Black Mountain, eventually working your way back to Little Mt. summit at the top of Emigration Canyon, and then back down to the zoo. It's the section from Black Mt. to Killyon Canyon that is an unknown (to me).

Anyone have any experience with this route?

That sounds cool, but I have no idea if it is possible.

I've been told that Black mountain to the top of Lookout Mountain involves a bit of bushwacking.

    X-zone

my riding buddy martin has done it the other way. apparently after that
nice looking spur after swallow rocks, is dissapears, and there is a
distinct X-zone of no trail or anything....

but he would know the details...

I'd say it'd be quite a bit of bushwhacking. It's a hike a bike to the first summit of Black Mountain, and then a faint trail further (and a long way to Lookout Peak). I turned around at the first summit.

BTW, this is what Stokey meant in previous post. It's a low way to get from Big Mountain to the city. But, upper City Creek is closed to bikes (of course, there's no sign at the eastern saddle as you drop into City Creek ;-).
