    Hiking the Narrow of Zion

Next week im taking the fam to Zion. We plan to spend some time in the Narrows. Is it possible to hike in Teva type sandles? Or are you better of in an old pair to running shoes? Im taking the kids and the dont have hiking boots.

You can do it if you are carefull but you will probably end up with some stubbed toes and smashed ankles.

You can rent canyoneering boots at the outfitters near the entrance of the park. If I recall, the price was pretty reasonable, something like 10 bucks for boots, neoprene socks and a walking stick.

Real canyoneering boots are pretty awesome. JMH has a pair of the kind that they rent and calls them "jeeps for your feet". I have a pair of La Sportiva shoes for canyons and have been impressed with those as well. The sticky rubber works, even under water.
