    Fat Biking on Utah Lake

Utah Lake is awesome for fat biking, there are some really cool ice formations right now and they should get a lot bigger, hopefully, with a little melting and some heavy winds. Ice is nice and thick in most places, about 6"-12" where I was riding today. There are a few spots with thin ice to watch out for on the front side of the ice pile up, but staying close to the shore and on the back side was fine. I stayed in the shallow near the shore since I was riding alone. Here's a vid of my ride today a few miles south of Saratoga Springs on the west side of the Lake.

Cool. Looks like like fun. Do the blue/grey sections of bare ice get pretty slick?

Yes! Slick as all hell. Any abrupt weight shift or movement and you're going down. Platform pedals are a must. Tire studs would make it a lot safer, so I'm planning to get some soon.
