    Cracked 6061 T6

I have a small crack on my Ventana El Cuervo it's about 1/8th thick by less than a half inch long. Can/should I send it to a local welder? The whole heat treat v.s. age thing if I do not have it heat treated how long would I have to wait to ride the bike? I would prefer not to strip the frame and pay the shipping reassembly etc. I am in Tooele UT is there a local frame builder anyone can recommend?

I would start by first talking to Ventana.

Agreed. If it is that much of a crack there, other places may be getting close to their fatigue life. Re-welding is sketchy to do since the reheat treating has to be professionally executed and no, letting it sit will not re temper it to any significant amount.
