Couple days in the St George area...

I'll be spending next weekend in St. George - Friday afternoon thru Sunday night. I plan on riding as much as I can possibly handle when I'm there, so I'm looking for some recommendations on how to spend my time. Of course The Goose, and most likely Thunder Mt....anything else you think I should try to fit in (trails or other attractions) while I'm there? Words of advice?

I'm an experienced trail rider on a 5" travel bike. Looking to do at least 20 miles of riding each day. I've got a rental car at my disposal.

What are the local MTB web sites/clubs for that area?

    Thanks for the help!

Dammit man! I'll be in the Grand Canyon riding....next time.
Problem: "Bike has trouble going up steep hills."
Fix: Recommend pressing harder on the pedals.

    How about the JEM trail(s)?

Are there any trails that I can hit right from St George, without driving?

Barrels, Zen, Bearclaw Poppy, The Race Course and maybe Barrel Roll.

I'd add prospector to churckrocks and stucki springs to your list. Ditto CGR's.

The JEM is pretty cool because you can make it quite epic by adding the hurricane rim and bartlett wash into the mix. Hey CGR what's up with the sister? When you going to deliver the goods buddy? j/k

Adding Bartlett Wash would be an EPIC ride. Last time I checked, Bartlett Wash was just outside Moab. I imagine you were thinking of Gould's Wash. If that's the case then you can get a 25 to 35 mile ride on the trails of the JEM trail system.

Good suggestions so far. I'll second the Gould's Wash/Jem/Hurricane Rim loop. Fun 25 mile ride. Don't forget Guacamole and Slick Rock Swamp out in that area too.

Another ride near town that may (or may not) be worth doing is Broken Mesa, although I liked Barrels and Zen better and they're close to Bear Claw Poppy, the race course, and Stucki springs.

Great riding so far! Hit Bear Claw Poppy and out to Stucki Springs on Friday night. Today I rode everything at Gooseberry and then did JEM as a downhill shuttle run. Awesome trail systems!

Little Creek and Thunder Mt on the agenda for tomorrow.

What a great 2 and a half days around St. George. Bear Claw Poppy, Gooseberry Mesa, JEM, Little Creek Mountain, and Thunder Mountain. Hope I can get back to do it again!

Thanks man...I was riding solo for most of the trip, so 90% of my photos I took with the timer function on my digital camera. Can't beat the beautiful backdrops of the Utah mesas and mountains.
