Looks like Thunder Mountain is a safer bet...

Thunder was good last week. Brian Head is typically mid june, although it's been a dry-ish year.
I'm looking forward to regretting this.......

Brian Head is the highest elevation ski resort in Utah. Just throwing that out there...

Yeah, I have ridden there a few times, just never this early. It surely has a LOT less snow than us!
    Gonna do Thunder.

A friend rode the north side of Navajo Lake on Sunday and it was mostly OK. Brian Head area has less southern exposure so it might not be good yet. Also rain today in Cedar, so snow on the mountains?

U DOT road cameras show snow patches along side the road near the Brian Head summit.

And there is fresh snow on Highway 14 this morning.

How hard is the full loop vs. the shuttle?

The full loop isn't hard, it's just a lot of boring pedaling....but with excellent scenery. IIRC, the paved trail is 5 miles and the dirt road is 2-ish. I'm a fat guy, and I did it....but I prefer a shuttle if possible!

The worst climbing is past the end of the road, so a shuttle won't help you with that part. I'm not a climber and I've never shuttled it.

Yeah, no need for a shuttle. Nice easy(ish) spin up the paved bike path then hit Thunder Mountain. In fact if you want a more extended ride, there's ways to hook up Casto and Cassidy/Losee etc on the other side of the higway into a big 30ish mile "loop".

Brian Head now has 18" of new snow, and it's not letting up.
