    RFX (2016) lower headset

    Hi,

Im having trouble sourcing a lower headset for the RFX (2016)

Can someone have a look at this (Ritchey Comp Headset Lowers Press Fit) and check its the correct one.

    ZS56/40

Ritchey Comp Headset Lowers Press Fit | Chain Reaction Cycles

Any UK alternatives that are in stock would be also welcome.

Works are not in stock but would prefer 0 degree change regardless.

    Edit:

If the above is correct; is there a better set of bearings that I could swap into it.

You need a ZS62, Works and FSA are the only two that I know of. I have considered contacting Works and seeing if they can do a 0 ZS62. I have heard that the CC bearings work and I think I may have done just this, but it's been too long for me to remember now. I'm running the works 1 degree. The only good part about all of this is that Evil is also running ZS62, so these should be available and possibly more options in the future.

    Cheers.

This is an unusual thing to source (in the UK)

Manufacturers and sales websites alike are somewhat on the opaque side

Even going through CC headset selector it seemingly directs you to an incorrect headset.
CRC, usually the best/easiest source (UK) doesn't seem to stock a zs62 lower.

I'm thinking this look like the correct lower

And that these bearings may? fit the above??

There are a number of threads on this topic you may want to read. Long story short, the ZS cups use cartridge bearings just like IS. If you need new cups, the only source I'm sure of is FSA. If you just want new bearings, the ZS49/ZS62 cups from FSA (the ones that come from Turner) will fit any IS52 lower and IS41 upper cartridges.

I ordered some cane creek 110 IS52 and IS41 cartridges and popped them in.

    That's because CC doesn't offer a ZS62.

If you are not going to change the head angle, then all you need is new bearings. ID/OD 45* for shopping bearings. FSA makes most of CC parts, and the bearings in the FSA made HS on the 0* RFX HS are not special. The angle changers have a radius to the outer race, so you can only get them from FSA, but, for angle changers Works Components in UK are the best

    Thank you guys.

Cheers for the CC link as well.

Not sure why but when you go through their headset finder using all the (correct) prescripted drop down boxes (Turner - RFX - 2016)

It tells you the lower headset is ZS 56 / 40

I was originally thinking I would have to source a complete new headset.

Bought the frame new off (UK) eBay store (they got a bike shop in Nottingham) to which they said it would be sold without the headset.

Thankfully its arrived with the headset in it so will just look to change the bearings for something with better seals.
