    More from Sol Vista

I didn't get up the mountain to catch CC but I did get some other action. I met up with deadbolt in the section that S-Works showed CC cleaning ever so smoothly.

The bikes and the dust was flying. Carnage happened but most riders got through safely. As you know, I don't have a DH bone in my body so I was in awe of even the slowest rider through. The best made it look easy, hardly stirring up any dust.

Later we went down to the big gap where the Pro DHers were practicing. Got a pic of a couple of pretty decent photographers catching the action. I was hoping to learn through osmosis. Deadbolt calls my shooting technique "spray and pray".

The start of the Pro Cross Country race. I had ridden up beside the race course to the top of the first hill to get some shots and lemme tell you that was a steep start. And the hill continued. I met up with CC later at Team Balzac but S-Works has that covered.

That one wa 47 feet lip to landing, the last jump of the "6 pack" it had a lot of the pro's poopin their pants. It was a series of three gaps each progressively larger, and gnarlier. At the start of the week there weren't any ride arounds for the jumps, but after the first day of pro practice there were. Tom and I watched a guy pile it up and break his hip on the second gap. I've got shots of them, I just have to find them, but I've been up for the last 24 hours straight, and really don't feel like digging through them right now.

Great freaking weekend though, I loved it.

    happy trails...

I appreciate your comment. I went up there knowing I can take pics of landscapes but never having taken pics of the action of a DH race. I took hints from deadbolt and others there and shot hundreds and hundreds of pics and what you see is what worked. I'm really happy some came out like I intended. But, you know, I just caught on "film" the efforts of these talented racers who are indeed the show, not me the hack photographer.

No matter what pics or video you might see of these guys flying over that gap you had to be there to see them do it. My stomach was churning with every rider's launch.
