I've got one word for everyone NICOLAI

Let me start by saying its been quite a week for bikes. I don't know if most of you remember me speak of this other bike I've been waiting to return from Germany(ALUTECH).We'll its back and its put together.all new xo Hope, new 07 66sl(crazy nice)Anyway I'll be posting pictures on Tuesday or Wed. I promise you this, you guys are going to freak out when you see this bike. Its a 1.5 RFX on steriods(at the very least)Its just a one of a kind sweet sweet ride.As if that was not enough this week we(BIKE MEDICS) picked up a new account,we now carry Nicolai. Now I've heard many many times all about this insane German made bike.We got to CC's and a FR(Helius) I rode the CC today and I can't even begin to tell you how crazy sick this bike was.Its a 3-4-5and a half inch bike.I've never in 25 years, ever swung my leg over a bike and felt so right at home from the first pedel stroke. It is and was hand's down the nicest, stiffest and the fastest bike I've ever ridden.WOW what a bike,I'll be riding the FR this week. So its safe to say that the NICOLIA HELIUS CC is now my new trail bike(the Alutech will remain my big bike)and yes the new 6.6(what 5 rides)is now for sale so to pay for the CC.I'll be posting pictures of the 6.6 this week as well. So there it is boys,do and say what you will. But Nicolai is one bad as$ ride...............

Wow that 6.6 went almost as fast as the RFX did, came in with the same fanfare and went out with almost the same goodbye "...rode acouple of times bike is basically brand new no scrathes or dents..."

I hope the Nicolai and the Alutech bring you the chemistry you're searching for. G'luck CF!

    Poll

I sense a poll coming on:

"How long will it take for CF's 'like new' Nicolai to show up on ebay"

My guess = mid Jan 2007

TA, this thing would go so well with your current component color selection:

Did you notice how the "rocker" on that thing would crush your pelvis if you lost a pedal and the suspension compressed while you straddled the top tube? At the very least the rocker would use frank and beans as a speed bag if you weren't careful over washboard.

In any case, you would have to mount your gravity dropper backwards cause the rocker would hit the remote portion. Faux, take note when you order that eyesore so that you get the GD with the longer cable.

there is a rocker on that thing? Where the hell is it? Probably hidden in the sweet pink camo somewhere. "Frank and beans as a speedbag???" Are you kidding me, that's classic!

I think the bigger concern would the the saddle nose in your spine that allowed you to get in that position.

CF - You seem to be moving the wrong direction on the bike food chain. You went from a Turner to an Intense to a Nicolai? Everyone knows that if you want to move up the food chain from Turner you should get an Ellsworth.

I have to say I felt the 5 spot to be way better than the nicolai helius cc which I had for a year or two before the spot. Never as supple as the spot, and the top tube was too high, also the C of G always felt too high for me.

    True. Dat.

That goes beyond simple ugly to another place. Like violence to eyeballs or some shitt like that. I mean really people, sometimes you have to put the torch and the paint DOWN.

Of course, this makes me wonder what kind of AZZ UGLY monster would come from a cat fight between that frame and the new Specialized (big hit? or Demo) with the argyle paint job. THAT would be SWEET!

i bet the frame would look better OR even acceptable if it was sitting in front of a red couch.

would that make the bike easier on the eyes?

    Action Photos

I've seen a couple Nikolai's. One of my ridding buddies swore they were the best thing since sliced bread until he got tired of it being repeatedly warrantied (JRA, of course).

Most were ridden hard. Most had problems with the bearings/bushings. Running with a 24 rear seemed to be a standard setup. The warranty was excellent though.

Wow, the helius dropout looks like an interesting derivation of the horst link.
I wonder if thats purely to get around the Spec patent, or is really a
    functionally superior implementation of it.

I've always admired the Rube Goldberg Moustrap look that Nicolai's have....all those machined bits with holes in them that you could arrange in endless configurations of adjustability - very cool from a manufacturing/industrial design standpoint....then again, I found my self thinking "why would I want to have to finish developing the geometry of the bike"......I really think this is a bizarre fascination on the part of the nicolai design team to allow for anything to be reconfigured in an ersatz "the Transformers" way....FORM OF A DRAGON! MEOW! ARRGGGHH!

I don't care about high tech, just give me something that works without having to f-around with it....
