    crankset upgrade for a 2013 Marlin 29er

hey I'm looking to run a 2/9 or a 2/10 setup with a BB and bashguard. Anyone have any ideas on gearing and what brand is the most reliable?

A 2x plus bash, you'll need a triple crankset with the bash in the 3rd ring position. Gearing is mostly personal preference. I run 22-36-bash with an 11-36. 10 speed. I prefer Shimano stuff, but SRAM is good too.
Worked at Trek/Fisher dealer 2008-2013. Only a little biased.

So your getting whole new drivetrain for that bike I assume, since it's stock 3 by 8. Prob go with an slx crankset, take the big ring off and put on a bash. Or, the super sweet new XT cranks, if you have the dollars.
I work at a bike shop. Trek, Gt, fuji, DB, etc...

yeah I ordered the whole SLX drivetrain with bashgaurd. Can't wait. Now I just have to sell my stock stuff. I will be throwing in the stock brake calipers and roters also.
