well...i made a mistake, i've ordered 450lbs (my weight with a gear is 76-77kg) without looking at internet.
that 450lbs (on RS Super Deluxe Ultimate) is too stiff (i have 20% SAG) so i guess i'll be looking at 400lbs spring.
however, CC site proposes 350lbs ??
    https://blue.canecreek.com/products/...ing-calculator
    (avg. ratio: 2.47, Patrol 2018)

and Fox page says about even 300lbs/in if i want 30% SAG ( https://www.ridefox.com/fox_tech_cen...alculator.html )

what do you think? i weight about 167-168lbs (with a gear, ready to ride)

razorjack, you'll want a bit less sag for the coil platform, we've found 27-30% to be the sweet spot. From my experience a 400lb spring (with 0-1 turns of preload) on the RS coil should work well for your weight.

hm...Fox calculator still says i can achieve ~27% SAG with 350lbs/in coil... (300lbs/in if i want 30-31% SAG)

400lb would be our recommendation to start but every rider and trail zone is different. 350lb may work well for you if your riding style is smooth and/or your local trails don't have too many big hits, I think you'll find the 300lb spring too soft for most riding. enjoy the new bike!

well... i rode my bike for a year now, so not new, but i'm super happy ;) i bought coil shock just now + 450 coil, but it's way too stiff (20% SAG)
i run Float DPX2 with .2in spacer before. For now i ride smooth stuff, during a summer Andorra DH tracks. i'll try 350 then, and we'll see. i can always add a bit of compression damping in Super Deluxe Ultimate.
    I'll try 350 now and we'll see.

Do you work for Transition? coz i've asked about coil (in email) few months ago and didn't get any recommendation (the answer was more like: we don't know) :/ that's why i took 450 (coz it's on L sized frames)

Yes I work at TR. Sorry, sometimes emails can get caught in the spam folder, we try to check frequently but we can miss them every once in a while. if you don't get a response in a day or two from [email protected] you can always give us a call as well: 360.366.4960 and you can reach david or myself through extensions 107 and 112.

^You're right in the middle IMHO so it's preferences. I'm basically your height and inseam and I went XL. It's a long bike which is what I wanted. I also knew that the "large" was def not the fit I was after - but that said, it absolutely could be someone's cup of tea if they are looking for that more maneuverable, close in fit.

I'm on a 35mm stem btw, very low stack. I don't ever see myself going longer than this 500mm of reach.

Question is: do you like long front center bikes? Can you try before buying?

my trance is too little reach yet slacked out fox 36 fork totally different bike, going 500mm is gonna be a big step .. snow summit dh summers, socal rocky chunk winters .. but brutal/repeat 1000' climbs back up, can this thing climb? gotta try it out thx for the insights. long front center sounds nice

I don't have any ride time on the current Patrol, but my '17 is pretty comfortable (457mm reach), while my Canfield N9 XL (500mm reach - 35mm stem, 790mm bars on both bikes) feels too big to be playful. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam. The question is, are you more into climbing or descending? IME, the shorter top tube helps the bike manual and pop more easily, while the longer tt makes for easier climbing up steep/ tech.

Rode the local jump line in Spokane yesterday - there were 7 (seven) Patrols between the 8 people there. The outlier was on a SC Megatower. Funny enough, me an another guy were talking about one of the best things about them was the externally routed rear brake cable... lol.
