Noob in need of opinions on two bikes.

    Hi all,

New here. Long time road biker new mountain biker. I live in Fruita, CO so 18 RD North Fruita desert and Kokopelli will be where I ride primarily. We will go up to Powderhorn occasionally which is up on the Mesa.

I am 47. I am 5í6Ē 128 pounds. So I wonít be racing just going out to have fun riding with the family. I am trying to decide between a 2018 Transition Scout or Patrol.

Thanks for for any advice to a noob mountain biker.

Both look like very nice bikes, pretty expensive for just riding around with family. See if you can take a bike or two out for a ride and compare.

By the way, there is a Bike Swap in GJ today. You might be able to get a pretty nice bike cheap.

They are pricey but this will be my only FS mountain bike and I hope to have it for a long time. And they are not as expensive as the Devinci Marshall I am riding today. I subscribe to the buy once cry once.

I'd go Scout. It's a perfect bike for everything I've ridden around your hood. The Patrol is a great bike too, but I'd only go that route if you spend more time at Lunch Loops or the big stuff in Moab. Scout is a fantastic all rounder.

Thanks GJmtnbike, we just got back from riding. Man the Marshall was nice. Why did I️ torture myself like that.
