MTB trails showing up on Google maps

I was thinking about driving up to West Branch State Park in Ohio & pulled it up on Google just to refresh my memory on the area and noticed that the MTB trail map is showing up on the map. Even has the trail names. I'm guessing that they're uploading the data from My Tracks and adding it to the maps. Checked a couple other places and didnt see any trail maps.

    Or how about this:

Pokerville trail was the last bike trail started in this park. Half the riders who use the park probably don't know where it is. All the trails that have been there for years longer apparently don't exist.

Helena's trails have shown up on Google Maps for a couple of years now. I'm not sure where they got the data, but I know it's hosted in some GIS clearinghouses.

I was poking around some more and found Reagan Park in Medina Oh also has the trails on Google Maps. Might be a CAMBA thing.

It is a Google thing. CAMBA does nothing out here in California and the new trails are here.

It is some kind of a mapping initiative they do. With the interest in smartphones and mapping and fitness devices. Fitness wearables are the new craze and Google plans to be a part of it. An IT friend at iFixit was telling me about it a few days back. He actually submitted some info to get old legacy closed trails off the Google maps and new ones on it.

Google opened their Maps API to a lot of app developers, so a lot of apps use Maps (not trying to rhyme here, it's just happening) and because there's a two way API for allowing to offload drawing (redrawing?) routes/maps with elevation/speed information, google ends up being "exposed" to a lot of trail information that they've been using to "improve" their maps for years. The trails in our local park have been on Google Maps for several years now.
