Everyone in the UK who currently enjoys riding trails on Forestry Commission land, and its difficult to find any that dont at some point, should be worried about changes in commercial policy within the FC and especially in England where the selling off of large areas of state land is now government policy. In Wales and Scotland the sale is being blocked by their devolved governments, guaranteeing continued public access. However in Scotland worrying trends in the future commercialisation of MTB trails are emerging. And in England the sale will compromise access, even if it is apparently guaranteed in the terms of the sale.
What are the implications for you? What do you know of these changes?
Post, get involved, help to secure the public access you depend upon.
I have a long rant elsewhere <trails-europe> about the situation at Glentress.
Let it be known what is happening in your forests.
