    donations over the web?

Would any of you mind showing off your "donations" web pages? I'm trying to put something together & don't want to recreate the wheel if I don't have to.

I'd like to be able to put a button on our site, allow a donor to donate and then automatically generate a statement that the donor could use for IRS documentation.

What has worked the best? Paypal? Home-brewed? Other? Is it worth the effort?

Thanks for any ideas you can offer!

    Matt

Check out the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship page: https://salsa.democracyinaction.org/..._page_KEY=7093

They are the group that works in the Downieville area.

A guy from JORBA (jorba.org) posted up some of his map work here a few days ago looking for comments. He included a link to their website, so I went to poke around a little. It's a pretty slick deal with lots of trail maps and info. Blows our Michigan site away, and ours is not too bad compared to some. Under the "Give" tab there's a "Donate" page that would make a great template for starters.

We do it using PayPal vie out sponsorship organization. We have PayPal buttons all over the place!

    CCCMB
    Bells4Bikes

Works well. I'm not sure about the donor statement, but I think that PayPal emails a receipt on all payments.

We use paypal on a simple web site and it has proven to be very effective. We don't claim to be tax deductable but do send a sticker and a membership card and offer to put you on our email list.

***I am not a tax professional***

But, today I learned that up to 100k of Required Minimum Distributions from IRA's can be given to charity tax free for tax year 2011 (people have until April 15th or whenever they do their taxes).

I'm not sure how many 70.5+ yo mountain bikers (or just people that care about great trails) that don't need their rmd's are out there, but it could work out great for everyone if we can identify some.
I call for a mandate to allow only road bikes on trails to limit our speeds and increase our line picking skills-FB
