    Servicing BB's

I was just curious what sort of service you should perform standard on BB's. Also if you're riding through water that BB height and above what what and how often should you check service them, what sort fo service check should you perform?

    repack

you should check to make sure it has enough grease every month or so if you ride through a lot of bb deep puddles. i'd take it apart clean it and repack it after 3 months. acualy i'd clean it more frequently, say every month, but i've got spare time and i like taking my bike apart. the deal is, the muddy water will bring dirt into the bb and grinding dirt through your bb with toast the bearings and the races.

someone may tell you to get a seeled unit. that might not be a bad idea if you are not big on bicycle maintanance.

the water that enters your bb is getting into your frame as well. if you have a steel frame you'll want to get the water out or lose your frame to rust from the inside out.
