    Carbon glue?

    Hi,

One of cable guide well nuts has detached from the frame of my RFX (carbon).

What type of glue can I use to fix it back in?

Will this do a good job

Subscribed. A friend had a similar thing happen with his Turner Czar.

Short of the factory warranty information line(best option). I would recommend an epoxy specifically designed for carbon/composite work. There are some unique properties and incompatibilities that would give me reluctance to using a generic glue(such as attacking the surface gelcoats or epoxies.

Cheers, glad I didn't go ahead.

    Will do.

Was hoping to get it sorted today.

I'll post the info here when they get back to me.

    Got an email from DT.

This is exactly the stuff he has recommended, they do different versions. (he provided an image which I cannot upload on this forum)

Also advice on maintainence from DT

Periodically remove all the cable guide screws and grease the threads then lightly snug. This will make them easier to adjust / remove in future so less stress on the insert.

3M scotchweld DP420 is a product that more than a couple frame manufactures use to bond the frame together, it will work fine for cable stops as well. It's not cheap though.

That JB weld seems to be popular in the US, but down here, I stuck to pretty much the most trusted name in that area and used West System plastic repair kit to stick back guides onto carbon frames and it worked excellent. Not cheap, but well worth it, still have aload left, works on so many things, $$ well spent.

I've used JB Weld on a carbon frame and it stuck extremely well.
