New question here. Bottom bracket tool not deep enough?

So I bought a new fsa crankset that came with an fsa powerdrive bb. When I went to remove it with this bb tool the splines on the tool couldn't reach the splines on the bb. Judging by the picture of this bb tool I assume I need something deeper?

I guess I just have the wrong bb tool then.

What do you mean the splines of the tool couldn't reach the BB splines, how recessed into the BB shell were the splines?

In my experience you have to buy the tool that has a bolt on the inside that threads into the spindle. It brings it in closer/tighter on the bottom bracket and you never have to worry about slippage

The bigger spindle is bottoming out on the tool. I would have thought that all of the square taper only tools would have filtered out of the market by now but apparently not. That FSA tool will work fine but so will most other cartridge BB tools.

Otherwise hunt up a Shimano TL-UN74, which allows the spindle to pass through the tool entirely.

    Bigger picture: ugh, Powerdrive?!
