95 Specialized Rockhopper frame modification Q

Ok - I have an older (95) Rockhopper - it's a steel frame (20.5") and I was wondering if anyone knew if the seat post collar/quick release was epoxied on, brazed on, or what. It's not like the even older ones where it's clearly brazed/welded onto the seatpost - it's an obvious collar with a lip over the top of the seat tube, and it doesn't want to move - I don't know if it's just stuck in place from paint or something like that, or if it's more "permanently" attached (I have a different collar I want to put on the frame) - also, is the noodle thing which was for the brake cable (it came with canti's) adhered on with epoxy or something similar, or is it brazed on?

(this is my commuter, so the frame is just fine - I like to tinker and don't want to kill the frame in the process, though - so I am reluctant to use brute force on it/cut it unless I am reasonably confident of the end result)

    Thanks!

Sorry for the less than stellar cell phone pic, but here it is. (looking into the seat tube, you can clearly see the lip where the collar goes over the top of the seat tube (not so much in this pic))

well the pic doesnt help that much. the top silver bit looks removable. if the collar is not the same color as the paint its usually removable. use some logic and you should be able to figure it out.

I believe I have one of those frames downstairs - I will double check and let you know. It seems to me that it was a fully removable collar? I'm not 100% sure though - I will run down and look. My frame is the full chromo touring special edition. I don't know if it makes any difference.

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

    clearer image

it definitely looks like it was on there when the frame was painted, but I can't tell if it's held on there with the paint, or if it's glued or what...

Appears to be brazed on . You can see the line around the seat tube almost at the top .
