What is a new rider in Austin to do.

I just bought my first mountain bike (Specialized Stumpjumper Comp) and I was hoping there was an austin MTB group in town or something. I've been riding a motorcycle for a while and decided to switch to something a little more safe that I could still get a bit of a rush from as well as some excercise.

I did Bull Creek pretty easily and that was a lot of fun and I'm thinking of jumping on Barton Creek. Any places that people meet up or that I should try. I heard Walnut Creek and eventually City Park when I get good.

Erm found the Austin Ridge Riders. Is anyone associated with that group?

    More local trails info: http://www.austinbike.com/

Also check out these forums: http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/index.php

I'm not officially with the ARR, but I've ridden with a bunch of them and have help out during a couple of trail building days. Welcome to the sport. I had a similar entry....from motorcycling. I still have the Harley, but pedalling is doing much more for my fitness level than just twisting a throttle.

    Ryan,

BikeMojo.com hosts the Austin Ridge Riders forum. And the Austin Voodoo Lounge.

I am sure that you can find yourself some folks to hook you up.
