Son moving to N. Dallas area, suggestions?

Son moving to N. Dallas for work in Jan., specifically Addison, any areas that you would pick housing wise for a new grad that rides daily?

We really know very little about the area but I know he would like to be able to ride wherever he goes. We know coming from SF Bay Area it's going to be a big change both weather and terrain wise. Best area to ride if there are any in that area? Any help would be appreciated!

He would like to find a safe/secure complex with a fairly easy commute. He has a range up to about $1300 a month.

For riding, opportunities are there with a variety of terrains, but you may have to put the bike on a rack for a short drive to the trail. There are lots of fun and challenging trails within an hour of Addison. Check out DORBA's website for a pretty good list of trails.

I don't know anything about real estate though.

If heís a serious mountain biker, heíll want to live close to the Northshore trail. Itís the best, longest, and most varied MTB trail thatís closest to Addison. Get a place in Grapevine, Addison, or Irving and then itís a quick drive to the many Trailheads. Definitely check the DORBA websiteólots of great trail info there. Also have him join the DORBA facebook groupóitís a very welcoming group with lots of people who can help.

Thx to both of you for the advice!

"sslikesnake" your info was perfect as we were already going to focus on areas west of the Addison area. I have looked at DORBA's website and they look to be a good group. My son's been riding/racing for years and I'm sure until he meets people he'll be riding on his free time.

Good luck with the move and transition!

It's not the Bay area, but we do what we have to do to make a living.
