    rule for riding after rain

So whats the time period one has to wait to ride after it rains? In houston it has been pouring for three days straight, then its like 65-75 degrees and sunny for a couple of days. Then right back into the rain. A couple of months ago I was riding a trail and it had rained the day before and some guy jumped me about it. I want to ride but I dont want to be that guy.

Each trail is so different in how much rain it can take and how quickly it dries, it's hard to give some kind of hard-and-fast rule. But I think it's fairly obvious when something is too wet: if you are making ruts in mud, for instance. We want our trails to last a long time, plus we don't want park officials to blame bikers for destructive practices. So it's good that you are concerned about not being "that guy."

Well I thought common sense would apply too but this guy acted like I slapped his woman when I rode by. The ground was a little tacky but not in the least ruttable(if that is a word).
