    Puzzler 2009

I know we aren't really considered a part of Texas, but one of you central state folks came out for it last year. This year is going to be longer and harder. We are having a CAT 3 race that will only be 34.5 miles. It will take most of them all day.

    Here's the cross post link.

    Late fee in effect!

Even with the additional $10 late fee, people are still registering for the Puzzler. We've got 30 brave souls signed up either through the online reg or mail in. The weather has been fabulous and the trails are getting worn in due to all the pre-riding.

Why should you central texans come all the way out here as opposed to Mas o Menos? Our race entry totals only $54 with the late fee and park entry fee. Our course is way tougher and has more single track. You only double up on about 6 miles of single track. The drive is only about 80 miles further from central texas cities than Terlingua and it's all interstate. We have more hotels and restaurants. We have host housing available. We have LOTS of other trails to ride on Sunday...if you feel like getting on your bike.

I know some of you central texans are humming and hawing over this event. Just go for it. It's less than two weeks out. Get it together.

Do both!! They don't conflict with each other.

Is that the full 15.5 mile loop? If so, can I steal it?

I still have flashbacks of that endo around Marker 28 back in August. lol

Yep....but it's counter clockwise where most people ride it clockwise....for some reason.

    The track is all yours.

Ah, yes. That was me. Had a great time last year, but I'm not going to make it this year. I got married earlier this year, and with all that's been going on, riding has fallen by the wayside. Hopefully I'll be able to start riding more this year and make it next year.

But a couple of my team mates should be coming out. Their names are Jerry and Sharon, they're good folks and I know you'll welcome them. We all ride for the Dallas Bike Works/Hooters team. Sharon says she "loves to climb" so we'll see what she thinks of Mundy's gap.

Good luck to all who race the Puzzler, hope to see you in 2010.

I wish I was good enough to do this race. I think once I'm able to climb to Mundy's without hiking I should be good. I'm assuming all you racers actually can pedal to the top right? That climb kills me everytime and I have to step off. Someday puzzler...someday.

I was out on the NE side this morning and saw all the signs. I wish ya'll luck, have fun, and have a great race.
